Our Story

Rooted in Legacy, Growing for the Future

The Oxford Foundation was established in 1947 by Marian S. Ware and John H. Ware, 3rd. In 2004, the original foundation was divided into four separate Ware Family Foundations. At that time, John H. Ware IV founded the Oxford Area Foundation (OAF).

A dedicated and active member of the Oxford, PA community, John Ware IV had a deep appreciation for the town and a strong belief in its potential. He served as President of the Foundation until 2012.

Following his leadership, his daughter, Nancy Ware Sapp, was elected President. She continues to carry forward her father’s vision, working to enhance and support the Oxford community for all who live in and visit the area.

In 2020, the Foundation expanded its impact with the acquisition of the Glenroy Preserve, furthering its commitment to conservation, community engagement, and the preservation of open space in the Oxford area.
