LYME DISEASE EDUCATION

UMH_L_TickTalk-01.png

Lyme Disease and other tick-borne illnesses are a huge health concern in many parts of the country, our community included. Chester County is highly populated with deer, making it a prime habitat for deer ticks and the transmission of Lyme Disease.

In an effort to educate the community while minimizing the spread of tick-borne illnesses in Chester County, PA, OAF has partnered with Lyme Disease Association, Inc.

Four Dandux Outdoors 4-Poster Deer Feeders have been installed throughout the Preserve to help eliminate ticks and to reduce the spread of these illnesses.

What are 4-Poster Deer Feeders?

4-Poster Deer Feeders are effective feeding stations that apply Tickicide to deer while they are eating.

How is the Tickicide applied?

As deer feed on corn, which is gravity fed from the center storage bin into the troughs, their ears and neck rub against rollers which have been saturated with Tickicide.

Is Tickicide Safe?

Yes, Tickicide is a special pesticide blend that has been approved by the EPA. It is environmentally friendly and does not contaminate the water, ground or air.  Even if the deer are harvested, the meat is free from the pesticide.
